Dear Cartwright Families,
Today, Cartwright Elementary conducted a planned lockdown drill. The drill went well, and our students and staff followed safety procedures calmly and responsibly.
These practice drills help ensure everyone knows how to respond during an emergency. This was only a drill, and no action is needed from families.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep Cartwright safe.

Cartwright Families, Dr. Martin here,
We need your cooperation with an important safety expectation for afternoon car rider pickup. Please enter the car rider line as close to 2:00 p.m. as possible and avoid lining up well before that time.
Our car rider lane also serves as the primary access route for emergency vehicles. Lessons from our recent safety drills, along with observations from the past two years, have reinforced how important it is to keep the front of our building accessible for as long as possible. In a medical emergency, lockdown, fire, or other urgent situation, first responders must be able to reach our building quickly and without obstruction.
We understand that the car rider line can become backed up, but arriving significantly early creates a safety concern while students and staff are still inside the building. Please help us protect everyone at Cartwright by waiting until close to 2:00 p.m. before entering the line.
Thank you for taking this request seriously and helping us keep safety our highest priority.

Dear Cartwright Families,
This week, our school will conduct several safety drills, including fire, tornado, and lockdown drills. These practice drills help ensure that students and staff know how to respond calmly and safely during an emergency.
We want families to be aware in case your child mentions a drill at home. These are planned exercises, and no action is needed from parents.
Thank you for helping us keep safety a priority at Cartwright Elementary.
