☃️❄️ Bedford County Schools will be closed Monday & Tuesday! ❄️☃️

Due to projected snow and icy conditions expected this weekend, #BedfordCountySchools will be CLOSED on Monday, 1/26, and Tuesday, 1/27.

A decision about SACP will be made by Sunday at 1:00 PM.

Superintendent of Bedford County Schools Dr. Tammy Garrett explains that this decision gives families time to plan and make other arrangements for their children. While the exact type and amount of precipitation is still uncertain, forecasters are forecasting this to be an extreme weather event with dangerously cold temperatures on Monday and Tuesday, which could make travel unsafe. The safety of our #students, staff and families remains our top priority.

Please use this time to #StayWarm, #StaySafe and enjoy the extra days to rest and recharge. ☕🧣

Continue to monitor our website and social media channels for any additional updates or information, and be on the lookout for a special video this weekend! 🎥❄️

☀️🌧️ What better way to kick off a STEAM project than with a real-life weather expert? Today, our very own local meteorologist Elijah Kirby visited our 5th graders at Cartwright Elementary and gave them a behind-the-scenes look at how weather forecasts are created. From forecasting storms to tracking patterns, our students got an inside look at science in action! Science, technology, and curiosity were in full force! 🌩️🌪️

👟✨ BCS Is Stepping Up! ✨👟

We’re partnering with #Soles4Souls to host a district-wide shoe drive!

From January 20 – February 28, we’ll be collecting NEW and GENTLY USED shoes to support people around the world. These shoes will support the Soles4Souls’ 4OPPORTUNITY program, which helps people in countries like Haiti, Honduras and parts of Africa create small businesses selling shoes and clothing to earn a living.

We are excited to partner with Soles4Souls, who has generously donated new, brand-name athletic shoes through their 4EVERYKID program, helping #BedfordCountySchools McKinney-Vento students.

📍Shoe collection bins are in each of our schools and at the Central Office.

Let’s give back—one step at a time! 💙

Thank you for helping us support #students, families and communities around the world.

🤝 No School Monday in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 🌟

We encourage our school community to take this day to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose message of hope, equality and courage continues to inspire us. 💙

Let’s honor his dream through kindness, learning and acts of service, both in our schools and beyond. Together, we can continue building a more just and compassionate community. ❤️🤝

🎙️✨ Students take STEAM to the airwaves! ✨🎙️

Recently, two outstanding students from #CartwrightElementarySchool visited local radio station #WLIJ and #HopkinsFarmsBroadcasting to share their experiences and excitement about pursuing STEAM designation at their school. They were joined on the air with Director of Communications Carol Garrette by Assistant Principal Malcom Martin, who spoke about the school’s vision and commitment to innovation, creativity and hands-on learning.

It’s inspiring to see #students using their voices and representing the incredible work happening in district classrooms! Moments like these highlight how meaningful, real-world learning opportunities empower students to lead and succeed. 🚀🧪🎨
