From the Principal

Welcome, I am honored to serve as the new principal of Cartwright Elementary. With over three decades dedicated to education in Bedford County, I bring a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to the academic and personal growth of each student.

My journey began teaching middle school math and Algebra I at Liberty School where I spent 19 years imparting knowledge and fostering a love for learning among students.

Driven by a desire to further contribute to the educational landscape, I transitioned into administrative roles, serving as an assistant principal and later principal at Community Elementary for 14 years. During this time, I worked alongside the school community to cultivate an environment of excellence and inclusivity, resulting in notable academic achievements and holistic student development.

My educational approach extends beyond the classroom. I passionately believe in the transformative power of education to shape lives and communities. Cartwright Elementary is a canvas of boundless opportunities for our students where each can realize their potential and become future leaders.

As principal of Cartwright Elementary, my vision is centered on fostering a nurturing and supportive environment in which every student feels empowered to pursue their aspirations. Together, we will cultivate a culture of academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement.

Outside of my professional endeavors, I enjoy spending time with my family. They serve as a constant source of inspiration and support in my life. Family is important to me, and I like to consider my students as part of my family.

I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and staff to ensure the continued success and advancement of Cartwright Elementary.
